Venessa E. Humphries

Vanessa Elaine Humphries was born to Jesse and Betty Humphries on December 31, 1967, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Vanessa attended Hill Top School for children with disabilities.

Jesse and Betty attended Faith Apostolic Church under the leadership of Elder Walter and Evangelist Daisy Plummer. This ministry taught them great faith. Elder Walter and Daisy Plummer were instrumental in assisting the couple through health issues Vanessa had, praying them through each one. Vanessa was born healthy but suffered a lifetime of health issues due to the negligence of doctors. This negligence led to her developing meningitis which left her impaired for life. Doctors predicted that she would not live past five years old, but with the fasting and prayers of the saints Vanessa lived a good life.  Prayer changes thing!

Some of the miracles that we witnessed were Vanessa going from crawling until she was five and then walking. Not only did she walk she ran. She went from a limited speech to putting words together, calling people by their names and never forgetting a face. Although Vanessa had challenges, she loved to help in the kitchen, make everybody's bed in the house, sweep the floor, and wash dishes. Most importantly, Vanessa loved the Lord! She loved to sing and praise God. 

Later, Vanessa and family moved their membership to Zion Tabernacle Apostolic church under the leadership of Suff. Bishop Joseph D. Farris. This is where Vanessa remained a member for more than 40 years with now pastor Bishop Thomas Griffith. 

She is preceded in death by her parents Jesse and Betty Humphries, brother Jason Humphries, grandparents William and Susie Humphries, Aunt Myrtle Humphries, Aunt Gracie Payne, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

She leaves to cherish her legacy and memory, her sister and caregiver Jacquelyn Brewer Humphries, Brother Jeffrey (Yolanda) , Stephanie Jones (God sister), Cousin Veronica Mitchell, Justin, Jessica, Jordan, Jaila, Jasmine, Jesse, Jamie, Jason Jr., Jordan Jr,. Jai Lynn, Brian, Tasha, Adrian, Jayce, Jacaure, Jaydah, Amir, Quincy, and Quest. Uncle Joe Humphries, Aunt Ruth Harris, Uncle David Humphries, Aunt Elizabeth Clinton, Aunt Bettie Shumpert (Wayne), Aunt Elsie (Printis), Aunt Elnora Orr, Uncle Lee Blain, Uncle Herbert Blain, Aunt Elizabeth Hardister, Uncle Anderson Payne, Uncle Curtis Payne. Special acknowledgment to Cousin Susanne Edmonds for always caring for Vanessa as needed. ​​�​��​
