Nora Jamison Obituary

On December 12, 1941, an angel was born. She was named, Nora Jamison (Matthews Young) of Indianola, Mississippi, affectionately known as Lottie and Mala (Mula). Mala was born to Armenta Matthews and Norwood Matthews also from Indianola, Mississippi. Nora was 1 of 9 siblings. Her sisters: Ora Mae Bush, Lula Mae Bennett, and brothers: Willie James Matthews, Willie Lee Matthews, and Percy Matthews have all proceeded her in death. Nora also has two sisters: Alice Matthews and Barbara Matthews and one brother: Archie Matthews who survives her. Nora also had half siblings: Birdie Mae Phillips, Lucy M. Matthews and Abel Matthew all of whom have proceeded her in death.

Nora confessed a hope in Christ and was baptized at a very early age. Nora moved to Chicago, IL in 1965 for a better life for her and her family. Nora rededicated her life to Christ as a member of First Baptist Church until her health began to fail her. Nora had a passion for taking care of everyone. She worked for General Motors. She rebuilt alternators and generators for semi- trucks, boats, motorcycles and cars. Nora would work 6 days a week then on Sunday cook a full soul food meal for her family.

Nora was a wonderful mother to her seven children. Daughters: Joyce Matthews, Amanda Faye Jamison and sons: Jerry Jamison Sr., Kenneth Jamison Sr. and Demetrius Jamison whom all have proceeded her in death. The legacy continues as she leaves cherishing memories to two daughters: Dorothy Young (Turentine), and Ericka Jamison.

Nora lived her life as a True Christian woman always having faith in God. She was a very loving person and would go out her away for her family, friends and anybody she knew. To others she may have been one person, but to those who loved her, she was our entire world.

Nora was one of a kind, she was nurturing, hard working, and lets not forget beautiful on the inside and out.

She really loved her family and she would always reach out to everyone. She loved to read the Bible and go on outings with her Sunday School Class. She loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, cousins and anybody she ever meet.

She had a heart of gold.

Nora was a very selfless woman and would be willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. She was an amazing mother, amazing sister, amazing auntie, amazing grandmother, amazing cousin and amazing friend. Nora was always for her entire family. She taught us so much and we will forever cherish those memories.

Nora departed this life on Thursday morning November 23, 2023, at the age of 81. After a long battle with Alzheimer's and dementia. She was a angel here on earth is now with the rest of her family in paradise.
