On May 15, 2021 at the age of 69 years 3 weeks and 3 days Martha A. Buckner was called by God to her eternal home. Martha was born in Starkville, Mississippi on June 8, 1951. She was the seventh child of eleven children born to Joe and Rosetta Hill. Martha was married to George Buckner of Indianapolis, IN June 1984; she was married for 12 years.
Martha attended Springhill elementary, and graduated from Henderson High School in 1969, later that year she moved to Indianapolis, IN with her family. She attended PCI for Dental Assistance, and Ivy Tech for Culinary Arts. She loved to cook and prepare meals to make sure no one went hungry. She loved to go to different restaurants to eat. She loved her family and church family. She believed in the belt and the Bible, as she was a disciplinarian and liked things to be orderly. She was a faithful member of Greater Shepherd Missionary Baptist Church for over 40 years. She was a church Treasurer, Choir President, Youth Director/Program Chair, Missionary President and Deaconess. She continued her work as a missionary until her health failed. She was a prayer warrior, praying morning, noon and night with her sister. She loved gospel music. She lover to watch all sports, especially football, basketball and baseball to help commentate each game with her grandson St. John. You can count on watching sports all day on Saturdays. She retired as a caregiver. She served her community and anyone that needed help. Martha will surely be missed by all.
Martha Buckner leaves to cherish her memory; (3) brothers Tommy (Annie) Hill, Darnell Hill, Dennis (Thelma) Hill and (1) sister Betty A (Perry) Davidson. (1) son Carlos Turner, (1) daughter Regina Cole, (6) grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews, other extended family, relatives and friends.
