Manuel Halbert Obituary

Mr. Manuel L Halbert was born March 12, 1951, to the married union of Mr. Pearl and Mrs. Versie L Halbert. He attended Oral Roberts School until the 8th grade. Then Manuel attended Arsenal Technical and Shortridge High School. He attended Indiana University in Terre Haute; IN was a member of Kappa Alpha PSI Fraternity.  Manny was and EMT with Wishard Hospital in the 70’s. He completed OSHA training in 2000. Later he worked as a dispatcher for the city, trained and was a special deputy with IMPD and the Marion County Sheriff Dept.  He also ran for State Representative of Indiana in his lifetime and was a Marion County Ward Chairman for the Election. His retirement in 2007 from the City of Indianapolis DPW started the project to see that all sidewalks are handicap accessible for wheelchairs. Manny had his personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. He served on the food pantry ministry and other help ministries at Lakeview Church. He was also a Licensed Minister of New Wineskin Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Mark Brown, where he served in the weekly food pantry and security ministry. Being active in the Indianapolis Community was a joy as he was a servant of our community. 

Manuel L Halbert received his wings by way of departure June 27, 2021. His father: Mr. Pearl Halbert, mother: Versie L Halbert, sister: Violet Evans Tucker and brother: Jessie L Evans Sr. preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memory: his sister: Joanne Halbert Smith, brother: Robert (Bobby) Halbert, aunt: Katie Louise Collins,and  a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special spiritual brothers: Carl Williams, Frank Conners and Steven Taylor Sr.
