Karen Ray Obituary

Karen Lee Ray was born on September 19, 1961, to her mother and father, Robert Lee Ray and Martha Starks Ray. Karen was educated within the Indianapolis Public School System and attended schools #27, #101, and Arsenal Tech High School. For many years, Karen was a very hardworking woman. Her occupation was cashier. As a child, Karen loved to sing, dance, and was at Roller Land each time the doors opened.

She enjoyed walking and entertaining her dog, Max, as well as cooking for her family. She liked watching Western movies, the ID Channel, Fear thy Neighbor, and Deadly Woman. Most of all, she stayed in the kitchen, whether it was cooking or cleaning things that were already cleaned. Karen enjoyed life. It could be a fire in the house, you would find her somewhere laughing saying, “Nikki, It’s a fire”. She was a straight cut woman. Nothing was ever too serious. Karen was known for expressing how she feel and asking questions if she needed answers. If you knew this lady, then you know the stories that could be told, as well as the stories that cannot be told. She loved Now Later candy and Ice Cream.

Karen was preceded in death by her mother and father; Martha Starks Ray and Robert Lee Ray Sr., sister; Roberta Ray, and brother; Robert Lee Ray, Jr.

Karen leaves cherishing and loving memories to her one and only daughter; Beverly Ballard Bell, grandchildren; Dewayne Ballard Sr. (Tia), Dajana Bell, and Reginald Bell Jr., great grandchildren; Akiyah Ballard, Dewayne Ballard Jr., Beverly Ballard, and Jamal Sims. She leaves her pet companion, Max behind to miss her. Karen leaves memories with her sisters; Vivian Ray Duncan (Derek), and Beverly Ray, and brothers; Richard Ray and Joe Ray, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
