Joyce Ann Baskerville
April 9, 1950 ~ February 2, 2024 (age 73) 73 Years Old
Joyce Ann Shortz Baskerville was born April 09, 1950, to Mrs. Ollie Bridges Shortz and Reverend Louie Shortz. Joyce was called “Doll Baby” by her mother and close family and friends.
Joyce attended public schools of Phenix City, Alabama, and graduated from South Girard High School of Phenix City Alabama.
Joyce confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and joined Ebenezer Baptist Church of Phenix City Alabama. Joyce married James Baskerville and relocated to Chase City, Virginia. Two children were born to this union. She and her family joined Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Chase City.
Joyce later relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1981. She and her children joined Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church. Joyce loved the Lord and enjoyed coming to church. She loved attending Sunday School and being a member of the Usher Board. She liked listening to gospel music. Her favorite song was “Colling Water” by Lee Williams. Joyce liked spending time with her family and friends. She was also a great cook. Some favorites would be her Peanut Butter Cookies and her Potatoe Salad.
Joyce was preceded in death by her mother and father; Reverend Louie and Ollie Shortz, children; Lance and Lamont Turner, sister; Esther McKissic and Lucile Moffett, and brothers; Louie Shortz Jr. and Joseph Shortz.
Joyce leaves cherishing memories to her grandchildren; Landon Turner, Jaylen Stephens, Britney Stephens, and Raven Stephens, and sisters; Virginia Nelson (Louis), and Mary Golden. Memories are left behind with a host of cousins, friends, her Pastor and church family.
