Jimmie Granger Obituary

Heaven needed a HERO…God picked Air Force Veteran MSgt. Jimmie Lee Granger.  He received his heavenly wings on April 28, 2021.  Born to the union of Rev. Robert Majors and Janie Reaves, where he grew up in Indianapolis, IN.  He was the eldest of seven children: Siblings; Bobby, Sheila (Short), Greg, Chris, Ricky and Dwayne.

In 1963 he graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in Indianapolis, IN.  After graduation, Jimmie made an honorable decision to serve and protect his country by joining the Air Force.  He retired after 22 years of dedicated service.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his loving parents Rev. Robert and Janie Majors and brother, Bobby Majors.

On August 16, 1975, Jimmie married the love of his life, Bernice Smith.  This union was blessed with 3 daughters: Kathy, Brigette and Amanda; 9 Grandchildren: Alexus, Deione II, Deionesha, Trey, Tilora, Amaya, Ayana, Noah and Jonah and 5 Great Grandchildren: Kameron, Ryan, Dai, Alijah and Duke.  Jimmie leaves 5 beautiful Sister in Laws: Robbie Harris, Patricia Williams, Melinda Nero, Devoria Spellman (William) and Ann Thompson (Wadell).  He dedicated his life to being a loving brother in love, as well as a loyal and nurturing father, grandfather and husband.  He also leaves to cherish his memory, a host of relatives and friends.

Jimmie loved the Lord and had a deep and personal relationship with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  He served as a member and deacon for many years at Indiana Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of his father, Pastor, Rev. Robert Majors.

Fearfully and wonderfully made, Jimmie was a praying and devoted husband, father, papa, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend of many.  He wore his love like a coat. His smile was like pure sunshine to the soul.  He was always a helping hand for anyone in need.  He put his heart in everything, from his family, to his passion for cars, stereo systems and electronics.

"Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness and who see the Lord: Look to the rock from which you were cut and to the quarry from which you were hewn; look to Abraham, your father, and to Sarah, who gave you birth.  When I called him he was only one man and I blessed him and made him many." Isaiah 51:1-2 NIV

Jimmie has made many! He may be absent from his body, but now he is present with the Lord.  His love, sunshine, and all the caring words he spoke to many will be spread on and on and on.  He made many and the many will create many more.  A HERO in and out of combat.  Your legacy lives on.
