GERALD COLMAN TYLER was born in New Castle, Indiana on July 2, 1930, to Everett Sr. and Clementa Tyler. Gerald (Gerry) also attended school in New Castle, IN.
Gerry, served in the United States Army until 1966, at which time he was Honorable Discharged. During his military service Gerry earned his GED, a Good Conduct Medal, and a Marksmanship Badge (Rifle). Although he had previously been married, and divorced, Gerry final met the woman with whom he would spend the remainder of life. Gerry married Donna (Grady) Morton on March 27, 1986, and they enjoyed a wonderful, and Blessed union for thirty-six (36) years.
Gerry retired from Indiana University Hospital, where he worked as an exterminator for over thirty years. He was also an avid bowler and fisherman, and he especially loved going fishing with “Mr. Steve” Steve Holman. He loved going to breakfast with his wife and was a favorite of the waitresses and staff at Denny’s.
Gerald C. Tyler departed this life on December 30, 2022. He was proceeded in death by his mother, Clementa Tyler-Herring, father, Everett Tyler, Sr., stepfather, Charles Herring; a sister, Doris Carter (Lee), brothers, Everett Jr. (Frankie), Hubert (Maggie); son, Jerome Douglas (Jackie), daughter, Beverly Tyler; and mother-in-law, Naomi Grady
He leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Donna; one sister, Donna Reddix (James); one brother, David Herring; sons, Jerry, Gerald Jr., James Robinson; stepsons, Robert & Timothy Morton; daughters, Clementa Twyman (Larry), Terri Robinson, Mildred Hatcher (Calvin), and Teresa Benson (Georgie); In-laws, James “Sonny”, Dale “Tony”, Leslie “Les”, Joyce, and Sharon “Sherry”; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, loved ones, and friends.
