David J Davis Jr.

Mr David Jerome Davis Jr, affectionately known as “DaDa”, was born to the proud parents David J Davis Sr and Marshelia K Garrett (Peele) on February 8, 1976, in Indianapolis, IN.

David attended Forest Manor Middle School and Thomas Carr Howe where he was recognized his junior and senior year with a feature in the Indianapolis Recorder as All State Defensive Lineman.  David then attended Grambling State University in Louisiana where he was pursuing his Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education.  Before he could obtain that degree David had the honor of being drafted into the Canadian Football League.

David was self employed and was an extremely active member in his community.  David coached and participated in the youth football community. David partnered with local churches, youth organizations and also started the D’Vayah Footprints Foundation and Capital City Visionaries both helping many families. 

David walked into the loving arms of his Lord & Savior on April 24, 2021 at the age of 45. David was preceded in death by his daughter: D’Vayah Jule Angel Davis; grandparents: Katherine and Roy Garrett; grandmother: Dorothy Crowder, step-father: Daryl Peele and brother: Darryl Jones.

David leaves to cherish his memory his loving parents David J Davis Sr and Marshelia K Peele; 20 yr love: Nykol L Brown; sons: Da’Jalik M Davis, Da’Vion J Davis and Kamal H.J. Hooten; daughters D’Asia D Davis and KyShaun D. Hooten; sisters: Kalencia Williams, Nicole Davis, Felicia Williams, Nicole Davis, LaTora Jackson and Maya Davis; brothers: Majestic Davis, Daniel Hampton, Rodney Jones and Issac Davis.
