Carrie Woodson Obituary

Carrie Ann Woodson, also known as “Sassy C”, was born May 30, 1952, in Osceola, Arkansas. She was the daughter of George and Corareen Woodson.

Carrie attended Roseward High School in Osceola, Arkansas and completed her studies at Arsenal Tech High School after relocating to Indianapolis, IN. Carrie accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age and was baptized. Carrie worked many years as a nurse. She enjoyed caring for the elderly while being employed at several care facilities such as, Bethal Nursing Home, America Village, and Rescare Community Living Facility.

Carrie was a loving mother, wonderful grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She loved her family and her special friend, Norvell Terry. Carrie loved her kids and family more than anything. Her family was her motivation. She enjoyed playing the blues on her record player. She enjoyed playing cards and making that good ole “Soul Food”. She was full of life, love, and energy. Carrie had the heart of gold, there was nothing she would not do for anyone. She took in whoever. That is how big her heart was. The only woman you seen on 24th street with a Camero. “Sassy C”, is where that name was birthed.

Carrie departed this temporary life to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at the age of 71 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers; Roy’Lee Woodson and Harry Woodson, and two sisters; Georgia Mae Perkins and Joyce Woodson. Preceding her in death as well is Mr. Melvin Davis, her children’s father, her son-in-laws; Derrick and Jermaine, and her favorite niece; Linda Woodson.

Carrie leaves cherishing memories to her daughters; Joyce Hodges (Tony), Tanjala Johnson (Derrick), and Sarronda Thomas (Jermaine), her one and only baby boy; Melvin Davis Jr., one bonus daughter; Kina Evans. Carrie also leaves everlasting memories with twenty-four grandchildren; thirteen boys and nine girls. Those grandchildren were the light to her world. She didn’t play when it came to any of them. They were “her babies”. Memories are left behind with thirteen great-grandchildren who also loved her dearly.  Additional memories are left behind with her sisters; Cora Lee Beech, and Patricia Watson, brothers; Tyrice, Leon, and George Woodson, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
