Brian W. Childs

Brian Wesley Childs, son of the late Norman Spann Sr and Barbara Spann, was born March
18 th , 1980, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
They relocated to Los Angeles during his childhood which led to Brian becoming an avid Lakers
and Raiders fan.
Upon moving back to Indianapolis, Brian attended Washington Township and Indianapolis
Public Schools.
Brian accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at an early age and never shied
away from discussing his love for the Lord.
He married his soulmate, Shaunna Henson Childs, on April 14 th , 2007. They were a match
made in heaven sharing similar interests and a genuine friendship. They thoroughly enjoyed
each other’s company and were truly kindred souls.
“Big B” and “Spills” as he was affectionately called by many was a talented artist. He had a
passion for writing and recording music. He loved to draw, watch sports, and play his PS4.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was known for checking in on
everyone to make sure they were alright. He was a friend to all that knew him and will surely be
missed.
On Wednesday, March 22 nd , 2023, at the age of 43, Brian departed this life peacefully
surrounded by his loved ones. He transitioned holding hands with his wife Shaunna and his
sisterly cousin Robin.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Ann Spann; father, Norman L Spann Sr;
father-in-law, George Edward Henson, grandmother, Mae Ola Childs; grandfathers Morris
Childs Sr and Leroy Spann, & uncle, John Eddie Childs.
Brian leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved wife, Shaunna; his mother-in-law, Jean; his
brothers, Norman Jr (Clara), Billy, Michael (Brittany), & James (Sheila); his aunts Shirley,
Mariah, & Labashia; his uncles Morris (Kaye), Emmanuel, & Samuel (Jacqueline); his cousins
Lee (Francita), Catina, Robin (Kelvin), Morris (Astin), Samuel (Amber), Teresa, Leticia, Lavonte
(Ciera), Jonathon, Courtney (Tracy), Jordan, Jonas, Selina, Zachary, Brandy (Brandon), Alexus,
Jared, Mariah, Brayden, & Julian; Brian also had a host of nieces and nephews too numerous to
name that he loved as his own.
