Azuri Lynne Cosby passed away peacefully at Riley Hospital on February 24, 2024, at the age of 9 years old.
Azuri Lynne Cosby, born June 4, 2014, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Daria Lynne Cosby and Antony Sherwood.
Azuri was preceded in death by her great grandmother Edith McCullough, her grandfather Norman Cosby, Great Aunt Kerry A. McCullough, Uncle Michael D. Boyd, and Aunt Trae McFarland-Boyd. She will be lovingly remembered by her mother Daria L. Cosby and father Anthony Sherwood, Grandmothers Poppy Cosby, and Tracey Scott (Boyd), sisters Chyann, Faith, Azaure; brothers Quentin, Dillan, Eli and Zy’Aire, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Azuri accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. She was a fifth-generation member of the African Methodist Episcopal Church and a lifelong member of Bethel Church. She was active in the Young People’s and Children’s Division of WMS and was on the Conference and District WMS/YPD Roll.
Azuri was a loving young lady. Her personality was always positive, cheerful, caring, and happy. She always had a smile on her face! Her smile would light up a room or brighten the day. She loved arts and crafts and animals and aspired to be a veterinarian. She loved dinosaurs! She was creative and found immense pleasure in making things and being with her siblings and cousins; weather making slime to play with, chalk drawings on the sidewalk, 3D prints of Stich, for Chyann, hanging out with best friend and cousin Leslie, being with and “bugging” Eli, spending quiet time with Quentin or playing video games with Dillion, all completed her life and made her happy. Azuri and her cousin Leslie were best friends and inseparable, always wanting to do everything together.
Azuri attended Paramount Brookside School, as a student in the fourth grade. She was an excellent student making all As and Bs in all her studies. She worked hard to get good grades and didn’t mind doing the extra work when required. She loved her school and had so many friends and talked about them constantly.
